Khyber Afridi Short Biography.

Khyber Afridi was born in 1942 in the Jamrud area of Khyber Agency. His father's name was Alam Jan and his grandfather's name was Malik Abdullah.

 Khyber Afridi received his early education at a madrassa in his village. He started poetry when he was in fifth grade. Initially he would send his poetry by letter to Mr. Lalzada Nazer Shinwari and Nazer Shinwari would revise his poetry.

During these days, he met Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari (HamzaBaba), a famous personality of Pashto literature in Jamrud Bazaar and befriended him.

In 1962, he passed the 10th class examination and in 1964, he was appointed as a teacher in the (Landi Kotal) Lwargi Madrassa. After that he passed JV exam from this place and also passed 12th class from same Madrassa.

Most of Khyber Afridi's poetry has been edited by Lalzada Nazer Shinwari Khyber Afridi also wrote in his book Darand that "the literary language in my mouth is the result of the hard work of Lalzada Nazer Shinwari".

When he used to recite his ghazal in poetry gathering, he recited it in a very special way. And that’s why people like his ghazals and his poetry. Khyber Afridi was very lucky to be a student of Nazer Shinwari. Most of the poetry of Khyber Afridi and Khatir Afridi has been corrected by Nazer Shinwari and this is the reason why the image of Nazer Shinwari can be seen in the poetry of both.

Both these poets are great names in the romantic poetry of Pashto literature.Most of the aspects of poetry of these two poets are common and both of them are very popular in the nation. Although these two poets are students of one era and one school, the difference between the two poets is that the romantic subject of Khatir Afridi is public and the romantic subject of Khyber Afridi is philosophical.
