Twentieth-century

rightly speaks. Are one of them is Muhammad Kamil Momand and the other is Hamza
Khan Shinwari.
Hamza Baba's
personality dominates Pashto poetry and literature in a way that no one can
deny. He is the king of Pashto ghazal who has been ruling the hearts of the
people for half a century.
Hamza Baba
is an all-round personality. He was at one time a playwright, novelist, poet,

poetry is his caste; on the other hand love, mysticism and Pashtun traditions

Mirror as a symbol in Hamza Baba's poetry
Before I
talk about the use of the symbol of the mirror in Hamza Baba's poetry, it is
important that I explain and define the symbol.
What is a symbol?
Poetry is a
skill through which the poet expresses himself and conveys his feelings, moods
and emotions to others. When there is a lack of words in the art of poetry, the
poet understands that the work here is symbolic. And then the poet uses symbols
and gestures and metaphors at this point.
By the way,
the language we use is itself made up of symbols and every word of the language
is a symbol in itself but due to its frequent use we have become familiar with
these symbols but also a specific style of symbol. There are those which are
related to imagination and thought and the same style is used in all the arts
which is also called fine arts. In fact, every fine art is symbolic.
In fact, the
symbolic poet has a complete conception of a beauty which he nurtures through
his poetic skill. The poet feels a perfect aesthetic concept beyond the
constraints of time and place and can only point to the same aesthetic concept.
But they cannot be described in the traditional sense of words. Anyway, the
poet's purpose is to make a gesture. The poet's job is not to reveal the names
of things, he only makes a gesture to draw people's attention to them. The
poet's job is to bring the common people together through these gestures and
allusions. It provides an environment in which people find aesthetic pleasure.
And such is called the soul of a lion.
When we
study Hamza's poetry, we come to the conclusion that he used symbolism a lot in
his poetry. The mirror is an important symbol of his poetry. Even before him,
many poets used the mirror as a symbol. And most Sufi poets have symbolized the
mirror as wonder and silence, as Rehman Baba has done in this poem.
“I treat everyone
in the same way. I am not hypocritical like a mirror”
Or write
like that in another poem.
I am amazed
when you take the mirror in your hand
But the use
of the word mirror in the poetry of Hamza Baba is so much that there is no
example of it in the poetry of any other poet of Pashto language. He has even
used the word mirror in the line of most ghazals. For example, his poetry This
is a ghazal in Ghazaonay's book.
Apart from
these, the word mirror is frequently used in all his ghazals. Most of the
poetry of Hamza Baba is based on Sufism. And the wonder of Sufism is a place
where the seeker observes and sees his caste and the world. Gets lost which no
one else realizes.
Surprise and silence are the characteristics
of a mirror. He says in a poem.
“When my lover and
I are face to face, it is as if a mirror is placed in front of another mirror”
Similarly,
many ghazals will be found in his books in which the mirror is used as a
symbol.
Address in the poetry of Hamza Shinwari
Maulana
Saeed-ud-Din Sherkoti in his book Makhzan-e-Balaghat has also considered it a
poetic industry to address oneself. Most of them have addressed themselves,
which is called (Self Adress) in English. And most of the poets do so by using
their name at the end of the ghazal. Addressing, addressing a sermon,
addressing a rival, or addressing a mullah, etc., but it is customary to
address neutral things, is very rare. The classic Pashto poet Khashal Baba said
that apart from living things, has been addressed in this way.
"O wind of dawn, come to the lawn and cling to the
colorful flowers in the lawn"
This is because Persian poetry has had a profound effect on
Pashto poetry. Now if we study the poetry of Hamza Baba, we find so many
examples of such audiences that its example is not found in the poetry of other
poets. He has addressed in a very
beautiful way. After Hamza Shinwari, most of the poets have followed him and
adopted the art of addressing.
If Hamza
Shinwari is considered to be the imam of classical poetry on the one hand, he
is also the founder of modern poetry on the other hand, and this is the reason
why the color of Hamza Shinwari can be seen in the poetry of most modern poets.
Besides, he has addressed inanimate things and this trend has now become common
in everyone's poetry.
The
following are some examples of speech in Hamza Baba's poetry.
“O messenger of feeling! You have come but have not come. Why are you
saying that he will not come”
Or in this
poem
O
Sahar, do not come to the path of the Beloved till then. Until I sift through
the dust of my beloved's alley.
There is so
much beauty in this address.
"Now you have become a sign of surprise. O heart! I
have been deceived by your prosperity"
In another
poem, something like this is addressed.
"O love, I doubt the purity of your nature. When I see
two lovers together"
The power of
speed has not been described by any poet till date; Hamza Baba has addressed
something like this.
"O power of speed, slow down a little because the beauty
of the beloved is like a mirage. Thirst will be remembered when I get closer to
the beloved"
There are
hundreds of other speeches that Hamza Baba has used in his poetry. Although
such speeches were present in Persian poetry, there were very few such examples
in Pashto poetry. And if it is studied carefully, Hamza Baba Each times a new
style and style of address has been adopted and because of these addressees a
new trend and color is appearing in the poetry of Hamza Baba.
Poem (جونګړه نظم) “HUT”

O my

Come
on! Together they inhabit another world, where there is only love.
In the
silence of flowers and the chirping of birds
Tired
of each other until they got lost in each other.
Come on۔۔۔

As
evening falls, the lamp of our distraction should be lit.
In the twilight of the evening there is a
glass of wine in the hands of the beloved.
When the stars see us, they are envious.
Come
on! That both love can play catch-up. Come on

If only
we could meet the young rays of the sun.
And if
the flowers come to their feet.
Everybody,
if trouble comes in handy.
But
still have your head on my shoulders and my head on your shoulders.

Come
on! That both make a cradle with the rays of the moon
And let
the care swing us softly in the swing
Let's
take off the colorful veil of both flowers
And
swing in that swing for as long as time allows.

Come
on! The scent of spring makes you laugh
And let
there be laughter on your silken lips
Like a
young man laughing at the beautiful laughter of his dream
Come
on! That at night a beautiful girl is weaving the stars of the sky in your hair
like a flower

Come
on! That both of them should try to get out of this trap day and night
together.
Fly in
such a way that both of them get out of the present time together.
He
should look for a time to forget the present.
And
then the two of them tie their thoughts together and meet each other
Come
on! That both create a world that is far beyond the thinking of this world
Let's
build a house that is beyond the imagination of Lamkan
O
Hamza, there are only two of us where it is difficult to reach the conscience
Where
both eternity and eternity perish in each other
Come
on! Let's make a hut in the forest, where there is no one but us. Come on
I have never
read such poetry as Hamza Baba's masterpiece poem has such poetic imagination
and imagery. At least in modern Pashto poetry there is no example of such a
magical and beautiful poem.
Due to Hamza
Baba's intense practice of speech, there is a great degree of beauty and
influence in his poetry. He has used the same language and words that should be
used for ghazals and poems, which is why this poem has made a very high place
in Pashto poetry and literature and he has won the hearts of the people because
of his delicate imagination of poetry. Has ruled over the hearts of the people
and will continue to do so even today.
