A Short Biography of Kakaji Sanober Hussain Momand

Kakaji Sanobar Hussain Momand was An Ideologue, A Revolutionary, and A Political Thinker & Poet. He was born in t 1897 in the village of Kagawala in Peshawar area.

His father's name was Gul Faraz Khan. kaka Ji did his primary education at a madrassa in his village And the tenth from a school in Peshawar.He started his career as a teacher, and for some time he was also a teacher at Barkhatal School.

During his service in Bar tehkal, he stayed in the Hujra of Arbab Dost Mohammad Khan, Kakaji was not married but according to them he was in love with a Hindu girl from the village.But religious restrictions did not allow this love to be fulfilled.

Kaka Ji Sanober Hussaain Momand started his political career in 1920 and left his teaching job,In 1924, he setup an organization called Anjuman Zamindar. A year later, with the help of Abdul Rahman Riya and Abdel Aziz Khoshbash, he founded a political organization called Jamiat Youth Frontier. Shortly afterwards, the organization came to be known as the Bharat Sabha .

Kakaji Sanober Hussain Momand was very popular as a leader of the Youth Bharat Sabha in NWFP In those days kaka Ji would wear a black turban and a shawl. Initially, Sanobar Hussain Momand was against Gandhiji's philosophy of non-violence, He would say that this philosophy could be successful for the Hindu religion but not for the Muslim religion.

And that is why he would write against this philosophy and in his writings non-violent philosophy has been criticized. The government imprisoned Sanobar Hussain Momand whenever he became the president of the Youth Bharat Sabha in NWFP.

One year later, in 1931, he was released from prison and started publishing a weekly magazine, Selab, from Peshawar. The magazine was then published in Pashto, Urdu and Persian. Four weeks later, the magazine became popular and that is why he was once again government orderd to imprisoned him but he escaped with his friends Muhammad aslam , amir bacha and murtaza bacha in December 1931.

All these friends became friends with Haji Sahib Tarangzai at Lakho in Safi area of Mohmand and join jihad movement against the British. They started another magazine from Mohmand called "Shula"

Haji Sahib Tarangzai would consult Sanober Hussain Momand in important matters and would hand over all the literacy work to him. When Tarangzai Haji Saib traveled to Afghanistan, Sanobar Hussain Momand was with him. When Tarangzai Haji Saib died, his son Bacha Gul became the leader of Mujahideen, But Sanobar Hussain Momand had some reservations about working with Baacha Gul

He left Ghaziabad with his friends and stayed in the Hujra of Malik Mohammad Omar Atmankhel. One night in 1933, Sahibzada Mohammad Aslam was shot dead by a British conspirator. Sanobar Hussain Momand took him to Jalalabad for treatment but he died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jalalabad. Uncle Ji and his friends spent a lot of time with Malik Mohammad Omar Khan Atmankhel and in Momand Sanober Hussain Momand were known as "Khan Saib".

Whenever Subhash Chandra Bose went to Afghanistan through the tribes areas, sanober hussain momand arranged all facilities for him. kaka Ji had enlisted the help of Mohammad Amin And Subhash Chandra Bose took him to Hada Sharif.  Bose was accompanied by Bhagat Ram and Ibad Khan. They arrived in Kabul from Hada Sharif under the leadership of Mohammad Amin.

Shortly after independence, Sanobar Hussain Momand came to Peshawar And there he started a monthly magazine, Aslam, named after his martyred friend Muhammad Aslam.They formed a literary organization called Olsi Adabi Jirga in 1951.

This literary organization created a great literary awakening among the writers of its time And the writers for the development of their language and literature. The organization trained new writers and made great contributions in the field of criticism, especially in Pashto literature.

At that days in 1951, kakaji Sanobar Hussain Momand contested the general election for the provincial seat but unfortunately failed.

He was re-arrested in 1951 and was stabbed and severely injured by a prisoner in Dera Ismail Khan Jail. He was hospitalized for two months with injuries.

Sanober Hussain was once again imprisoned in a military coup in 1957.  He was transferred to Lahore Jail after being lodged in Rawalpindi Jail He was released in 1959 after two years from Lahore Jail. Prior to his arrest, Kaka Ji was the editor of the Pashto section of the seven-day Pashto and Urdu magazine, Bang Haram. The magazine became a daily newspaper۔

kaka Ji was suffering ASTHMA debases (shortness of breath). He was very weak because of this incurable disease , when his condition was very serious then Dost Muhammad khan kamil momand took him to his house and settled with kamil momand  house. Kamil Momand served him very well And finally died in January 1963۔

Sanobar Hussain Momand was a talented journalist as well as a good and standard poet.

His pen was dedicated to the development of his nation, He fought against slavery with the sword and also wrote with the pen about the mental slavery of his people. The themes of revolution are very much present in their poems

 

د ملا پۀ نصيت به څوک غوږ کېږدي

تر ممبره چې چغار ستا د پڼو ځي

Whenever the noise of your anklets reaches the mosque

So no one listens to the mullah's advice

خدايه دا بازار تالا کړې پۀ مغلو

د غريب حسن پۀ يو موټي چڼو ځي

It would be great if the Mughals could capture this market

Here the poor beauty is sold for a few bucks

دا مارغان ورباندې چهتر چهتر کېږي

له باګرامه سيل بهر چې د سکڼو ځي

Every time a Bagram girl leaves the city

So the shadows of birds are formed on their heads

تورو زلفو کښې دې سپين مخ راښکاره  شو

خلقو  نوم  ور باندې  شام   و  سحر  کېښود   

چې  ئې  ستا د ليدو توان  نه وو پۀ زړۀ کښې

دې   خوارانو   پۀ   تا   نوم  د  دلبر   کېښود

پښتو هيڅ  طاقت  ته  ډال  ايښودے   نۀ دے

يو  ستا  ميني  ته  ئې  ډال او  خنجر   کېښود

دغه    ستا   د   ميني   ساز   پکښې  غږيږي
