Every poet strives to reform his nation through his poetry and to lead a society where there is peace, happiness and brotherhood. And for this purpose Hamza Baba Pashto Poetry and his pen.

Hamza Baba is one of such poets who have served his Pashtun nation through his pen and poetry. He belongs to the rugged mountains tribal area of khyber agency landi kotal, his full name was hamza khan shinwari. He started his poetry in urdu but later he focused on pashto poetry and got the title of  baba e Ghazal I.e . the father of pashto ghazals.

amir Hamza Shinwari is one of the most famous and Sufi ُpoet after Rehman Baba and khushal khan khattak.

If considered, Hamza Baba's ghazals are mostly related to Sufism, but their Sufism is also Pashtun Sufism. This is the reason why in the poetry of Hamza Baba, wherever the subtle issues of Sufism are mentioned, he has given it a Pashtun color, as Qalandar Momand Saib has written about their poetry.

"Hamza Baba is a Sufi in humanitarian terms and a Pashtun in deeds."

Hamza baba as a sufi poet

When we read Hamza Shinwari's poetry, it teaches us a lesson of national consciousness.

Some people think that Sufism means good morals and that is why in Hamza Baba's poetry we find so many moral lessons because Hamza Baba himself was a practicing Sufi.

There are many poems in their poetry collection that teach good morals.

If one speaks too much and he speaks badly, it is better for him to keep quiet...

If someone's hand is empty and there is nothing to help someone

So this hand is useless

Hamza Baba was a practicing Sufi, he did not believe in inaction.

The meaning of life is that man is useful to another man

And if not, then life is meaningless

Here is a very moving poem by Hamza Baba

In Hamza Baba's poetry, in addition to Sufi themes, the themes of unity of one's nation can be found.

I will hold a jirga on my nation until the whole nation is united.

The colour of romance is also very clear in the poetry of Hamza Baba, The style in which he writes romantic ghazals is one of the few such poets in Pashto literature.
